Monster day five

Ok, here's monster 5. Wanted to push my vector look from yesterday but I didn't really achieve what I wanted...oh well, it's fun to experiment anyway! Had a look through my Monster's Inc art of book and found some awesome pieces by Lou Romano. That guy is good!

Monsters the fourth

Three monsters for day 4. Not sure what they are, some sort of jellyfish/ghost/skull like creatures...whatever you like really! I wanted to do a really super simple character design and focus on the colouring this time. My aim was to use the vector tools in pshop but they got annoying, so I did it my way in flash, using shapes, then went into pshop and used the brush tools for some effects... I downloaded Mozilla to post my blogs cause now I have more control...woop.

Illustration Friday: I spy

Now I'm reaching a bit on this one, but I really wanted to get an entry into illo friday this week. This is Humphry he's a triple illo this week - Illo friday, my first Moji AND monster of day three...phew, poor humphrey. Humphrey is a metro-monster. He cares a great deal about his appearance and is always trying to look immaculate. He hates his big hands and his nails are the bane of his existence...

I felt so good after my donald sutherland pic that I thought I'd try again...this time with my favourite Scarlett Johansson. She's gorgeous. Anyway, here she is.

Mr Donald

Richard and I saw Reign Over Me last night, I'm a fan of Don Cheadle so was quite happy with the main flow of the film...some things didn't add up but oh well...thats film for you. Anyway, my point is during the film I noticed Donalde Sutherland's amazing lips, they're really thin and crooked. So I drew him. This is the first portrait I've drawn for a VERY long time and I'm actually quite happy with it. Yay to a confidence boost! Definately good to get this out after my monster!

Monster day two

Wasn't sure if i was going to actually post this one since it was even more rushed than yesterdays...but here it is anyway. I should try and spend a little more time on the character designs...thats what the exersize is for at least...anyway here is monster day two.

Monsters Day One

Well to try and keep my mind creative and active, I've decided to take a couple of DaniDraws 101 projects for artists and put them to good use. I've hit a creative block, so hopefuly this will reach in and start something going. So, I'm starting with nmber 77, draw a monster a day for a month. So here is my first monster, very quickly drawn straight into flash. Another one tomorrow!

Euphoria Matte finished

I've finished the euphoria world matte for the music video I've been working on...I quite like it, however want to work on my photoshop skills a little more to manipulate the textures better. But thats an after thought. I may be doing some image textures for flash cards used in the music video, so that will be cool...I like the fact that I'm able to use my 2d skills in a 3d production, at least there's some hope for me out there in a 3-dimensional world!

Illustration Friday: Wired holiday

Well I wanted to actually get something in on time for this weeks illos friday...so this is what I can only assume is a typical family camping trip for the family of today. All wired up. I'm planning to change the colours dramatically with a sunset, however only have the time to do the base colours as I'm tired and have to work early tomorrow. Also, feel free to check out my late illo friday for Hide...I had every intention to put the link in but unfortunately I cant find the link button...hmmmm.

Belated Hide

I got called into work so I didn't get round to finishing my first illo friday for a while, but I followed through and here it is. I wanted to try a new style in flash, where I painted rather than aim for perfect lines like my other vector work. I was inspired greatly by the work of Pascal Campion whose illustrations and animations ooze life. Whilst I didn't get anywhere near his work, I'm still quite happy with this. I wanted to push my character designs as well as aim for a really simple background style. Also thought I'd try a texture bg...lots goes into a simple pic :p

Boy how they grow up fast

I'm procrastinating today since I have to go into work later, so here's a post about my dog Bob. Mum just sent me these photos of Bob taken by a friend of theirs whilst he was staying with them. They kindly looked after Bob whilst I went holidaying in Mexico. He's quite grown up now at 9 months. Very different from the little baby we got at 3 months...he was so good back then!

Colours...look at the colours

I've actually been proactive the last couple days. I've managed to upload and launch my parents' company website; I've been finishing off the euphoria matte (I'll upate on that later during the week) and I've been able to redo a piece from a couple years ago in flash, something I've been wanting to do for so long now. I'm doing a whole rehaul on my portfolio as I'm going to look for work in the states in animation...so it's gotta be good :p So here's my colour playaround.
